Festive gin and tonics – bubbly treats

Festive gin and tonics – bubbly treats

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE ?

This blog post contains advertisement

Who doesn’t love good festive gin and tonics ? In this post I have made some delicious suggestions for you, on how to serve some festive gin and tonics that both taste and looks good.

Over the past years gin and tonic increased in popularity, and for a good reason, the market for both gins and tonics is wide, with many options to find the perfect taste just for you and your next bubbly treat.

A gin and tonic can take you in so many different directions, depending on the gin and tonic you’ll use. The botanicals which are used in the making of them makes a huge difference in how your gin and tonic will taste. I really like to experiment with the taste in a gin a tonic, using modifyers or a tonic that I think pairs well with the gin.

The visual appereace of the cocktail is important and can easily reach a wow-effect, either by building in layers, torching a sprig of herb or pouring in the tonic in front of the consumer (or the camera). Gin and tonic should be a festive, bubbly and delicious thirst quencher.

Want to infuse your own gin with butterfly pea flower ? Click here to make it yourself !

Tip ! For a plain gin and tonic I recommend to use 1 part gin to 2 parts tonic water and always use plenty of ice.

Cheers & enjoy !

Refreshing tequila cocktails

Cocktails with agave spirits also called mezcal and tequila cocktails. These cocktails have one thing in common if you ask me – they love to be paired with fruit.

Tequila cocktails with fruit you say ? Yes I have provided four delicious cocktails below, using agave spirits and fruit, these cocktails is full of summer vibes and perfect to enjoy anytime on a sunny day, or when you’re in the mood for a delicious and refreshing cocktail with tequila (agave) that is fresh, fruity and full of summer vibes.

Try them out – you won’t regret it !

If you haven’t tried mezcal before, it can be a little overwhelming spirit. The smoked agave taste is distinctive, and because of that I like to pair mezcal and tequila when I use mezcal in my cocktails, to get the best of both spirits, and because I think it gives the best balance most of the time.

Cheers & Enjoy!

Layered cocktails

This blog post contains advertisement

To me there is something pleasing about getting layered cocktails served. I think the visual appearance makes it fun and vibrant.

I often use Butterfly pea flower infused gin, when I make layered cocktails. You can infuse any type of clear liquid with these flowers to obtain the colour, or you can buy one of the well-known gin brands which makes them.

If you are looking in the purple / blue scale of colours to serve in layers, you can also look after blue curacao which comes in both liqueur and syrup or “Iovem liqour” (used in one of the recipes below).

If you decide to build your own cocktail in layers, always think about densities, because it will decide what liquid goes on top or bottom.

Butterfly pea flower also reacts to acidity, making it change colour, keep that in mind if you add something that is sour / contains acidity like lemon or lime. To see the effect, I recommend a “magical” Gin & tonic with butterfly infused gin, the gin will change colour once you add the tonic.

I have provided a handful of layered cocktails including a guide on: How to infuse gin with butterfly pea flower.

HOW TO INFUSE GIN WITH BUTTERFLY PEA FLOWER:

1: Pour 0.7L gin in a container, add 10 butterfly pea flowers.

2: Save the empty gin bottle for later.

3: Stir every hour to the colour is how you prefer, takes 3-4 hours.

4: Strain the infused gin into the empty bottle with a funnel.

5: Now you have infused your own gin, ready to serve, enjoy!
